Well here I am again, promoting the one film I feel I have done the most work on in my career...

Nightwish - Sonata Arctica

Greetings everyone! I am so excited to tell great stories of the concert I recently attended. Nightwish/Sonata Arctica!

Well it goes without saying that the show absolutely rocked. This was a birthday present for my best friend Xena.

We are both huge Nightwish fans so when I found out that they were having a US tour...I was all on that.

When we arrived, we had to get some overpriced shirts so we did. Mine has a guillotine. xD

When we got in, I had no idea that I had purchased floor tickets...so 0_o it was fun trying not to get pulled into the mosh pit. But it was cool because we were really close to the band.

The opening band was Sonata Arctica. I had never heard them before, but I need to get some songs from them. I really enjoyed their performance.

When Nightwish went onstage, everyone went nuts. Even reserved little me over here was screaming her head off and belting the lyrics with the rest of the Finnish Metal Army.

The band did great and they played such hits as "Wishmaster", "Dark Chest of Wonders", "Angel", and a few new ones.

The new lead singer for Nightwish did a great job as well, even though I did miss the Tarja-ness.

All on all, a night to remember...with one deaf ear and no voice...

Yay! Comicon 2008. It finally came and I was so excited to get the day off to frolic in the toy-filled nerd-dom that is San Diego this time of year.

There were a million cool things to see but I will only show the very coolest ^_^...

Anime Expo 2008

Well, I thought that I was going to miss this year...but apparently I was mistaken. Because circumstances would lead to me attending both Friday and Saturday with SPJA.

Don't worry, I resisted the urge to push him down.

The main reason we came was because Phoenix is obsessed with a certain voice actor, Vic Maginola. We waited in a line for eternity to see him, and the group from Ouran High School Host Club.

Harada was there doing some autograph sessions. I wish I could have had an Etna sketch though. >__<

And the best part by far was getting to meet and get a sketch from Alvin Lee.

It felt so weird being on the other side of the booth. o_0
Oh well, SDCC is next!

Sorry it has been so long since my last post...things have gone a little crazy the past few weeks.

I am officially back in La La Land. Truly exciting. Currently working freelance and am happy to be back with the roomies. So please excuse me if my thoughts end up being completely unrelated and filled with question.

PB bought an awesome HDTV that makes me want one so we have been watching many movies and playing many video games. Watching 300 and El Orfanato on it makes me never want to go back to my tiny white TV with a built in VCR...never. My goal is to obtain the 40" Samsung HDTV. Oh capitalism, I loves it so...

-FYI: Drew Struzan came by PB's office for a signing as well. he got the new Blade Runner Director's Cut poster signed and I got the Hellboy poster. Apparently he's a really cool person too. ^__^

Speaking of Drew Struzan...

I went and caught Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Same Indy action and cheesy one-liners, but something was missing...

-Slight Spoiler Alert-

It seemed like Lucas was trying really hard to insert some sci-fi into the mix. Not that I have anything against it, it just doesn't feel as Indy as Indy. I liked the lore of the ancient Amazonian tribes...but taking it to an inter-dimensional level was a bit much. Also, an over use of CG in my opinion. Do we really need to see 3d prairie dogs in the opening shot?

Not saying that I didn't like it mind you. You will still cheer for Indy and clap when the movie is over. Harrison Ford hasn't lost any of his dashing-ness, and the musical queues still give me goosebumps when played. Cate Blanchett was amazing as always. And seeing Marion Ravenwood with Indy again totally made it worth it.

But I will have to grade it harshly for resurrecting a favorite film franchise from my childhood. I give it 7 cheeseburgers.

Teh Observatorah!

This past weekend PB and I went to a friend's birthday shindig...

We went to Jitlada Thai restaurant (you gotta Jitlada! -__^) and then made our way up to the untamed land of the Griffith Observatory.

They took us to a journey into space. Where the universe is expanding into the nothingness of nothing and where dark matter slows it down. (This is progress!!!??) It totally blew my mind.

BTW- the seats are so comfortable, you will fall into a coma of comfort.

I also saw the new Steven King film, The Mist.

Three words; Fan-Fricken-Tastic! This film was top notch. Obviously a Silent Hill predecessor; this film has it all. Plus, it contains one of the most, if not the most f*^#ed up endings I have ever witnessed. And if you know me, I watch some seriously messed up things.

Check it out if you are even a smidge as deranged as me. (And it helps that Cafe FX did the CG ^_^)

And before I go for the evening please remember that if you're in the mood for a Red Robin hamburger, do not settle for a Sizzler hamburger. >_<

Project Red Cliff

So here it goes... Right now, I am working on John Woo's Red Cliff . It looks to be quite an awesome film based on the Three Kingdoms legend. It stars Tony Leung and Takeshi Kaneshiro...(swoon)...anyway, I am doing oodles of CG involving many many boats, soldiers, and horseys.

So I have officially begun the movie makings... Proof

Other than work I have been trying to keep sane by watching t.v. and watching movie films such as Juno.

I really enjoyed this film and I would recommend anyone who loves witty dialogue and really convincing characters to go see it. It definitely deserved best screenplay at the Oscars.

Ellen Page is fantastic, as is everyone else for that matter. The story is truly enduring and genuinely funny.

I rate it 9 out of 10 hamburger phones.
